JONATHAN DAVENPORT THANKFUL FOR VICTORY

This week the ASA Sanctioned Friendship Motor Speedway would feature a special post-season show called "Thanks-4-Giving" as this would be a way for us to say thanks to all of the speedway supporters as well as the Friendship Family giving back with special coat donations for needy kids this winter season. Many race teams would be on hand for what would be some great racing as always at the four-tenth mile dirt oval showing some three wide action in almost every race. This week would feature a special $2000.00 To-Win GM Direct Automotive Crate Late Model event along with three other divisions known as the Basic Finance Super Street, FriendshipRacing.com Mini-Sprints, and the Southeastern Cars & Parts U-Car division.

In the GM Direct Automotive Crate Late Model event, a great night of racing would be what many fans thought after this event. Twenty-Five cars rolled into the speedway to enter this special event for one goal and that was to find that precious victory. Ross Bailes would set quick time in time trials but after the top six would draw for new positions this would send him to start inside row two looking to reclaim that top spot. In the feature, Ross Bailes would do just that as it would not take him long to grab the lead. Jonathan Davenport would make a strong run to the front and catching leader Bailes. The leaders would find lap traffic after a few laps and it would be none other than Ross Bailes going around after getting caught up in traffic while trying to hold the lead. This would relegate Jonathan Davenport to the top spot while he would never look back. Davenport would be the man to roll into the Neighbors Stores/100.9 WIFM Victory Lane for the final time in 2008. Winky McGee would have a strong run all through the event while just coming up short would finish a strong second over Keith Holder in third. Phil Gann would have a consistant run in fourth while Mitchell Coble would finish in fifth.

In the Basic Finance Super Street event, Andy Mathis and Kenny Gwyn would start things off up fornt but it would not be a great night for either driver as both would get together and spin on lap two ending their night with mechanical issues. It would now be the Daniel Moss and Jeff Parsons show as these two guys would race close quarters for the rest of the event. Jeff Parsons would just not be able to find any fault in Daniel Moss as Moss would go on to score the victory with Parsons a very close second. C.J. Lyons would have a strong run with third. Two new names to Friendship as Wesley Chester would finish fourth with Chris Allison rounding out the top five.

In the FriendshipRacing.com Mini-Sprints event, Todd Carmichael would take down the feature win with a impressive run over Crate Late Model driver Mitchell Coble who would come home in second. Brian Roseman would come from the rear of the starting lineup to finish a strong third. Todd Hagger and Chuck Puckett would round out the top five in this special event.

In the Southeastern Cars & Parts U-Car feature, Brett Myers would look to be the car to beat but there would only be one major problem. Brett Myers would just be racing for fun as his engine did not meet track qualifications. Myers would take down the checkers after holding off Jake Anen in the closing laps but it would be Anen who would officially score the victory. Tiffany Richardson would now be your second place finisher with Megan Watson moving up to finish third. Jennifer Mendenhall and Shawn Myers would be the fourth and fifth place finishers.

Congrats to this weeks feature winners and thanks to all the dirt racing fans, drivers, and crewmen for your support this 2008 season as none of this would be possible without you. We look forward to seeing everyone next year for the running of the awesome 2009 Championship Racing Season. We will be updating everyone as soon as all the details are finalized. We will have the 2008 Championship Banquet information posted as soon as it becomes available. Coming up for the next event at Friendship Motor Speedway will be pre-season 2009 practice at a date to be announced at a later time. All the 2009 schedule of events will be posted at the website as soon as it is released. Come on out as we would love to have you as part of our dirt racing family.
