by Ryan Delph
GLASGOW, Ky. -- Dirt Late Model pilot Michael England endured a rough trip to the Peachtree State of Georgia last weekend. After failing to make the $7,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series feature event on Thursday, April 3 at the Swainsboro (GA) Raceway, things went from bad to worse for the Glasgow, Kentucky driver on Friday evening, April 4 at the Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia. Michael was involved in an incident during his heat race at Screven, which broke his wrist. Needless to say, he was done for the evening and did not compete in the rest of the $10,000 to win show.

On Tuesday, April 8, Michael underwent successful surgery to repair his broken wrist. A steel plate and screws were inserted to help his wrist heal properly and swiftly. However, the medical staff has advised Michael that he should stay out of Dirt Late Model competition for 10-14 weeks. He will likely make his return to action somewhere around the first of July if things go as planned.

“I just got my hand stuck in the steering wheel the other night at Screven and it broke my wrist,” commented England following surgery on Tuesday. “It got messed up pretty bad and the doctors had to use a steel plate and screws to hold everything in place. Hopefully, it will heal quickly and I can get back behind the wheel as soon as possible!”
