CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Carolina Clash series regulars Ricky Weeks and reigning Southern RANKINGS champion Dennis RAMBO Franklin are reeling in the Lite RANKINGS top rated racer Bobby Hogge of Salinas, California. Both racers finished tops this weekend in the series opening $4,000. to-Win Fayetteville (NC) Motor Speedway event. Hogge collected a first, second and third, beginning Leap Day out West in Nevada and California in $3,000. to-Win events, and still leads in points by 15. Franklin piloting the # 2 'En Compass, Cherokee Landscaping, All-Star Performance' sponsored Barry Wright / Clements powered Pontiac GTO held off Weeks for the win, his first of the season, that is within the RANKINGS guidelines. The CCs is off this weekend, for the mega COLOSSAL event in Charlotte, but kicks back into gear in two weeks with another Lite RANKINGS (guidelined) race in South Carolina at the Travelers Rest Speedway. This weekend the Lite RANKINGS tallies events in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, TN, Alabama and California.

Two other racers made their Lite RANKINGS debuts with victories Saturday night. Duke Whiseant of Texarkana, Arkansas and Joe Armes of Petross, Tennessee got $3,000. to-Win victories in Mississippi and Tennessee, Saturday night. Whiseant piloting the # A1 'A1 Auto Salvage, Catman Racecars' sponsored GRT / Jay Diic kens, Pontiac GTO won the O'Reilly Southern United Professional Racing series event, from the pole, leading flag to flag. In similar fashion Armes (under the tutelage of Dale McDowell) piloting his # 77 'Southeastern Construction, Tennessee Valley Excavating' sponsored GRT / Clements powered, Pontiac GTO, beat McDADDY for the Lamar Lowry Memorial 45 lapper, at the Cleveland (TN) Speedway. Honorable mention this week goes to the TARHEEL TIGER Ray Cook for his $3,000. Southern Regional Racing series win in Maryville, TN, Saturday night. Cook fails to meet the qualifications of tallies on the Lite RANKINGS, due to his National RANKINGS (currently 30th) status.
