.Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Bulls Gap and Tazewell Following Show in Ohio on Friday Night
It will be a busy Fourth of July Weekend for America's Top Touring Late Model Series. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has a Friday Night, July 3rd visit to Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, OH for the "Creno's 50". The series then travels south to the Volunteer State of Tennessee for events at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN for the "Toyota Tundra 60" on Saturday Night, July 4th; followed by a Sunday Night, July 5th trip to Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for the "Toyota of Knoxville 75" main event. All three sanctioned races will pay $10,000 to win and $700 to start.
It will be the third appearance at the Joe Loven owned and promoted Volunteer Speedway for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. In the two previous appearances in '07 and '08 Scott Bloomquist and Earl Pearson Jr. have proclaimed victory at "The Gap." The Sunday Night visit to the Gary Hall owned Tazewell Speedway will conclude a busy Fourth of July Weekend for the Stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The LOLMDS will be making its fifth appearance at "The Taz" with three different winners in the previous four appearances Jimmy Owens won the event twice, Scott Bloomquist won the event once, and last year Joe Armes pulled the upset with his win at Tazewell.
There will be a full race program for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on July 4th and 5th with PRC Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the $10,000 to win main events.
Ray Ferguson of ATC Roofing is putting up an incentive of $500 cash to the fastest qualifier for the PRC Time Trails for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at both Bulls Gap and Tazewell.

The tire rule for both Bulls Gap and Tazewell will be the Punch 40 tire rule for both the American Racer Tires and Hoosier Racing Tires.
Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN still holds the top spot in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Points Standings. Bloomquist holds the lead over Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA; Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN; Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; and Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC. The difference in Championship Points between second and fifth places is just 75 points.
Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN is sixth in points followed by Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN; Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY; Josh McGuire of Grayson, KY; and John Blankenship of Williamson, WV.
Just outside the top ten are Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI in 11th place followed by Eric Jacobsen of Seacliffe Beach, CA; David Breazeale of Four Corners, MS; and Freddy Smith of Seymour, TN. Jacobsen who was not at the Cherokee and Fayetteville events due to his truck breaking down was awarded Hardship Points for both races.
Blankenship leads the Quarter Master Rookie of the Year points followed by Breazeale, Jeep VanWormer of Pinconning, MI; and Michael Walker of Franklin, TN.
With 21 races in the books this year, there have been 17 different winners with 358 different drivers having raced with the series at least once this year. The series has 20 stops left to make on the 2009 tour that will show 41 events in 18 states for the season.
