Shane Clanton Makes Last Lap Pass to Take O'Reilly Southern All Stars Win at North Alabama Speedway
Tuscumbia, AL - Shane Clanton moved past race-long leader David Breazeale as they took the white flag and then fended off a high side charge by Randy Weaver to capture the $5000 O'Reilly Southern All Stars payday at North Alabama Speedway. Breazeale held on for third with Kenny Merchant and Anthony Borroughs completing the top five.
Breazeale lowered Billy Moyer's existing track record by two full tenths of a second. Clanton's time also broke the previous record.
Chris Wall was involved in a very serious incident in hot laps which saw his number 71 machine go flipping out of the speedway in turn one. Wall was transported to the hospital and later released. Doctors diagnosed Wall with three fractured vertebrae in his neck. Wall did return to the speedway later but the Holden, LA driver was experiencing a lot of pain.
