I can't remember a longer winter than last. Between the extreme weather and week after week of nothing but bad news, don't know how to describe it other than just brutal both physically and mentally. And now the experts tell us we may still see a few snowflakes but I know this much for sure, the ice was officially broken at WCS during todays employee meeting.
Can't tell you how good it was to see the team after all these months, even better everyone doing so well. And how great was it to be track side talking dirt again! Just needed a few open headers for some noise and the smell of burning race fuels but that will come soon enough. But I see most of you just couldn't wait, already busy making sure 2009 will be the best year ever at Wayne County. New safety lighting has been installed, tested, and ready for action. A new set of racing flags have been purchased waiting for a sharp eye and a new legend to begin. The track itself has been opened awaiting the spring precipitation to soak in deep, gonna be tacky and smooth til' late September I quarantee! Hopefully we get a chance to do a little painting and sprucing up but I'm tellin ya we're good to go!
There is a good attitude at Wayne County, when the competitors pull in this feeling will only intesify. For you naysayers on certain message boards - DBAA. If you don't know you'll just have to ask me,,, Anyway we have the track, a dedicated staff, the best drivers around and a lot of great race fans. It's time to begin.
